WHY MINDSAGE?

ENVIRONMENT FOR LEARNING

Parents, Teachers and Administrators strive to create an environment where learning can occur and flourish.

MindSage creates an internal environment where learning can occur.

Learning cannot occur in a mental and emotional environment of fear, frustration and stress.  By assisting students to become self aware, MindSage allows students to understand the role of failing and being wrong plays in learning.
MindSage helps minimize and manage stress and frustration by encouraging students to focus on developing a curiosity and eventually a hunger to learn.

“Noncognitive skills represent valuable assets with respect to both traditional school outcomes and the broader development of individuals.”

– Economic Policy Institute

Since noncognitive skills matter greatly and can be nurtured in schools, developing them should be an explicit goal of public education.”

-Economic Policy Institute

MindSage training enables students to develop soft skills (work and life skills) that will allow them to become highly successful now in school and in any career they wish to pursue.

Every student is different – different in interest and natural ability.  Not every student will take AP courses. Not every student will complete Calculus or Physics before graduating.
Even with state or federal standards, the reality is, not all students will receive exposure to the same content and curriculum, or master cognitive skills to the same level.
Does this leave some students at a disadvantage?

Not if (some of) the focus is shifted from academic conformity, to self development.

It is precisely because not all students perform at the same level academically, that it is imperative to explicitly teach soft skills in our public schools.

The skills taught in MindSage have the power to improve student engagement and performance in school so that no matter what job or career they wish to pursue, they will succeed at the highest level.  Regardless of their academic achievements prior to graduation.

“Multiple studies identifying the interdependence between cognitive and noncognitive skills indicate that we may fail to boost cognitive skills unless we pay closer attention to noncognitive skills. In other words, focusing on noncognitive skills may actually further improve reading, writing, and mathematics performance.

-Economic Policy Institute

MindSage helps students understand that lack of interest or ability in one area (often revealed by lower grades) is not a determining factor of their intelligence, potential or indicator of future success.

While MindSage encourages and motivates students to develop a greater interest in areas where they are receiving lower grades, more important, MindSage instills in students the desire to develop the qualities that will motivate them to take the greatest advantage of areas of interest they do have.
• MindSage re-ignites and strengthens a student’s natural desire to learn.
• MindSage improves and promotes a positive attitude towards life long learning.
• MindSage slowly, methodically helps students choose to develop the soft skills employers are begging for.

“Intelligence plus character—that is the goal of true education.”

-Martin Luther King

THE PROPER SKILLS

Studies, panels, committees and reports continue to discuss and debate which 21st Century skills or ‘soft skills’ will have the greatest positive impact on students.

MindSage has taken the simple approach of teaching the skills that today’s leading business and universities have identified as the most useful skills students should develop.
This makes the MindSage 21st Century skills program powerful, practical, pertinent and professional.
